Kelly Kirkpatrick is an award winning creative director, art director and graphic designer with more than 20 years of experience in print, interactive, editorial, branding, strategy and film.

Her work has been featured in the Communication Arts Photography Annual, Applied Arts Magazine, and the Creative Review, UK.

Kelly has won 2 Advertising & Design Club of Canada Awards and 3 National Magazine Awards; Gold 2009 Fashion & Beauty, Merit 2009 Fashion & Beauty, Merit 2009 Art Direction of a Single Article.

For digital work, she has won a Horizon Interactive Award 2013 and a CSS Award Nomination for the Site of the Day 2012. 

Born in Calgary, Kelly went south to Texas on a golf scholarship where she completed a B.A. with honours in psychology and marketing. Before moving to Toronto to complete another degree with honours at Ontario College of Art & Design, she spent a brief time in Quebec, heading up Hatley Clothing & Gift’s marketing department for the US & Canada. She was kept on to design and art direct Hatley’s lookbooks, during her degree and for several years afterward.

Kelly furthered her career with a 3 year stint in London, where she launched and expanded Hatley’s business to the UK and European markets and art direct their international campaigns. She went on to work as a designer for Isambard Thomas, one of the world’s foremost typographers who’s clients include The Victoria & Albert Museum, The Royal Academy and Grimshaw Architects.

She was the creative director of an integrated project with Lacoste in New York. Recruited to produce and art direct an exclusive fashion shoot featuring their Fall 2009 collection during New York’s Fall Fashion Week. She also worked with New York’s Blackbook Magazine to design features for their magazine and its first accompanying P Diddy iphone application.

Kelly currently works on various branding, advertising and social media campaigns and has recently taught interactive design through the joint media program at University of Toronto - SC at Centennial college.

She is interested in any creative challenge that should cross her path.
